Medium Shredded Coconut

Fact be known: a coconut is not actually a nut at all, rather a drupe. The faux nut has three protective layers surrounding the seed of the fruit. Those three layers consist of the exocarp (skin), mesocarp (husk) and endocarp (shell). When harvesting coconuts, the exterior layers are removed and the seed is extracted, producing white meat, juice extract and oil for both food and water. Our medium shredded coconut is harvested from that fleshy part of the coconut.

Naturally sweet, it is an obvious choice when baking cakes, cookies, cupcakes and more. Be creative and toss this flavorful snack in your favorite trail mix, yogurt, granola, and cereals, as well as top-off an array of salads, desserts and other savory dishes. There are no rules when it comes to garnishing with shredded coconut. Medium shredded coconut not only adds flavor and texture but is also a good source of plant-based protein, fiber and other micronutrients. Bad news: coconut is high in saturated fat, so it is recommended to eat only in moderation.
