Reishi Mushroom

The Reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum) grows in Asia and has long been used for its medicinal properties there, believed to boost the immune system and decrease inflamation. Specifically, the reishi mushroom (also called lingzhi) contains polysaccharides, dietary fibers, and triterpenoids, as well as many minerals, vitamins, and amino acids

The mushroom has a bitter taste and tough texture, so the nutritional benefits are more sought after than it’s culinary ones. The ground powder removes the texture element, and works well as an addition to coffee or tea, or to make your own healthy bars or brownies where it’s bitterness is balanced by something sweet.
