Dried Blueberries

Blueberries are one of nature’s best gifts. These tiny fruits make up for their small size by providing big flavor to baked goods or even your morning yogurt. Dried blueberries have a more concentrated and intense flavor than fresh with a slightly crunchy/chewy texture when eaten out of hand. However, when used in cooking dried blueberries rehydrate and taste very much like fresh fruits. In fact, because they don’t become mushy or crushed, dried blueberries are preferable in many recipes.

Adding Mount Hope Wholesale’s bulk dried blueberries to muffins, scones and quickbreads are obvious ways to enjoy them, but don’t stop there. The naturally sweet and slightly acidic taste of blueberries blends well with spicy foods like salsa, barbecue sauce and chili. They add a delicious layer of flavor to slow roasted meats and stews and make a great accompaniment to fish and poultry. Of course there’s practically no end to the simple dishes that can be made better with the addition of a handful of dried blueberries: oatmeal, smoothies, granola, fruit salad, kale salad, or homemade trail mix (try with some roasted salted cashews and raw almonds).

Keep a container of dried blueberries at the bar to naturally sweeten vodka- or bourbon-based drinks, dress up a simple glass of club soda or add a new twist to a traditional mojito. A sprinkling of these dried fruits will turn a pitcher of plain store-bought lemonade into everyone’s favorite beverage.

Dried blueberries aren’t just empty calories. One serving provides five grams of fiber – that’s over 20% of the daily requirement. They contain no fat or sodium and are a great source of antioxidants. We offer these in one and five pound bags, as well as by the full case.
