Tomato Powder

Tomato powder adds a mild tomato flavor that is a little sweet and a little tart making it just the right balance. It has all the flavor of concentrated tomatoes in a powder form.

Tomato Powder is made from dehydrated or dried tomatoes ground into a super fine powder. The only additional ingredient, an anti-caking agent, makes up less than 1% of the powder. Sun-dried tomatoes have been around since at least the Aztec period in human history. They dried tomatoes because dehydrated tomatoes store for longer periods. History doesn’t indicate when tomato powder first came into existence, but it was widely popular in Italy in the 19th century. Tomato powder is a great choice when you want the tomato flavor without the tomato chunk in your dishes, or when you want to enhance the existing tomatoes in your recipe.

Tomatoes are loaded with vitamins, minerals, fiber, and lycopene. Lycopene has several antioxidant properties and is the reason tomatoes turn red. It is also linked to heart health and protection against certain cancers like skin and prostate cancer. Vitamins in tomatoes include Vitamins A, B, and C. B vitamins include both B2 or riboflavin and B3 or niacin.Although, in its powdered form the health benefits are reduced, there is no denying tomatoes are good for you.

Tomato Powder is wonderful for adding color and flavor to fresh pasta, noodle, and bread doughs. It can also be used in yeast bread, quick bread, or muffins. Add a little to vegetable soup or stews for a richer stock with a hint of tomato flavor. A bean chili isn’t complete without tomato powder. Add it to a homemade spice blend or spice mix.

Ingredients: Tomatoes, less than 1% Silicon Dioxide (anti-caking agent)
