It is also perfectly seasoned with jalapeno powder, garlic powder, onion powder, turmeric, and cumin creating a unique twist of flavor. Orzo, Italian for barley, resembles rice but is actually a durum wheat pasta. Some refer to orzo as pastina, meaning “little pasta.” Orzo originated in Italy, is very popular in Greece, and frequently added to in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine.
